Scott Beiser, Legacy Impact Award

Scott Beiser was born and raised in Los Angeles and has been involved with Jewish Federation Los Angeles for over two decades. He has traveled on several missions with the Federation, including Israel, Poland, Cuba, and Morocco. As a long-time member of the Jewish community, Scott has been active with a variety of Jewish organizations. Scott is a national campaign advisor council member of Israel Bonds and has served as chair of the Platinum Society and Bond Financing of the Los Angeles chapter of Israel Bonds. Scott is an advisory board member of itrek and one of its early contributors. He is also active with the local efforts of AIPAC and Birthright and served as a trustee of the endowment fund of his synagogue, Valley Beth Shalom. For the last two decades, Scott has also been very involved with the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Professionally, Scott is the CEO of Houlihan Lokey, a publicly traded global investment banking firm. His responsibilities include managing Houlihan Lokey’s operations, identifying and developing new strategic opportunities, and pursuing and managing new and existing client relationships.

Scott earned both a B.S. and a M.S. in Finance from the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge. Scott is married to Nancy, his wife of 37 years, and has two adult children: his son Kyle, who is married to Natalie, and his daughter Tara, who is married to Patrick.

Brook Hinchman, Vanguard Leadership Award

Brook Hinchman is Head of North America, Global Opportunities Strategy at Oaktree Capital Management where he leads the dedicated investment team in the region. During his tenure, Mr. Hinchman has had primary coverage responsibility for many sectors at Oaktree, including the technology, industrial, energy, and financial services industries. He has served on several public and private boards, including Montrose Environmental, Genesis Capital, Neo Performance Materials, and Aleris International. Prior to joining Oaktree in 2010, Mr. Hinchman spent four years at Goldman Sachs & Co., most recently in the Merchant Banking division, where he focused on private equity investments. Mr. Hinchman received a B.B.A. in Finance from the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa, where he was Valedictorian. He is a proud graduate of the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment.

He and his wife, Tamara Kagel, participated in the Federation’s LA Couples program in 2015 and Honeymoon Israel in 2017. In addition to JFEDLA, they are involved in the philanthropic efforts of the Youth Renewal Fund and the David Lynch Foundation’s mission to teach meditation. Mr. Hinchman is the father of three children, Rothko, Walden, and Darwin. He is a member of Wilshire Boulevard Temple and Nashuva.
