While our ongoing community service work continues with opportunities listed below, you can also make a donation to the Federation’s L.A. Wildfire Relief Fund to support individuals and families and Jewish organizations impacted by the recent wildfires. 100% of your gift will go directly to those who need it. We are doing all we can to make sure we move forward with the greatest possible speed to take critically-needed action to ensure our strength and security and make plans to rebuild the vibrant Jewish future we share.

 

Stepping Forward LA

Join us at Stepping Forward LA to help with gift wrapping, donation sorting, and decorations to make the Big House feel festive for the organization’s annual holiday party. Stepping Forward LA programs support foster youth (ages 14-25) as they navigate the transition out of the foster system and into adulthood.

Please feel free to bring a donation of any type of gift card for restaurants, movies, shopping, or gas.

Parking: Available in the surrounding neighborhood
Restrictions: Volunteers must be 12 years or older and accompanied by an adult.

KEEN LA

Address: 10400 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles 90024
Time: 1:00–4:00 PM

Volunteers in their 20s and 30s, join us at Sinai Temple as we assist with a special Sunday basketball session for children with special needs. KEEN LA works to empower youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness, and fun, led by volunteer coaches.

Parking: Available in the Temple Sinai Lot. Entrance on Ashton Street. Please allow time for security check and parking and for a 1:00 PM PROMPT start time.
Restrictions: We strongly encourage you to wear appropriate clothing for outdoor sports activities. Due to recent events, Sinai Temple's security has been on high alert, so we ask that you are patient while they do their job.

Safe Place for Youth

Time: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

Help us sort donations to the Clothing Closet, make hygiene kits, beautify the drop-in center, and learn about SPY members and the education and employment programs they so gratefully utilize.

Please feel free to bring clothing donations for the SPY Clothing Closet.

Parking: Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood.
Restrictions: Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Please dress for cleaning and painting.

Westside Food Bank

Address: 1710 22nd Street, Santa Monica 90404
Time: 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

Volunteer to sort food donations and learn more about the Westside Food Bank that works to supply food to the food assistance programs of social service agencies in Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, West Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Inglewood and the LAX area. Through the services of their member agencies, their food reaches the most vulnerable members of these communities.

Parking: Street parking and neighboring lots are available.
Restrictions: Please wear closed-toe shoes. Volunteers of all ages welcome.

Covenant House

Address: 1325 N. Western Avenue, Hollywood 90027
Time: 9:00–11:30 AM

Beautify Covenant House, which provides housing and supportive services to youth facing homelessness, and bring in some holiday cheer for its residents.

Parking: Parking in nearby lot is available.
Restrictions: Volunteers must be 25 years or older.

L’Dough V’Dough

Address: Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust in Pan Pacific Park: 100 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles 90036
Time: 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

Volunteers ages 25-40, join Holocaust survivors to braid challah and hear stories of endurance and bravery. This special session is in partnership with Infinite Light.

Restrictions: For Volunteers ages 25-40. Space is VERY LIMITED.

Westside Jewish Community Center

Sign up to assist the Westside JCC with various aspects of their 3rd Annual One Healthy Community 5K Run/Walk. From parking, registration, and water distribution along the route to children’s programming, there’s plenty to choose from!
