Joshua S. Friedman is Co-Founder, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Canyon Partners, LLC. Mr. Friedman is a graduate of Harvard College (BA, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Physics), Oxford University (MA, honors, Politics and Economics, Marshall Scholar), Harvard Law School (JD, magna cum laude), and Harvard Business School (MBA, Baker Scholar). Prior to forming Canyon, Mr. Friedman was Director of Capital Markets for High Yield and Private Placements at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Prior to working at Drexel, he worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department of Goldman Sachs in New York.
In 2014, Mr. Friedman, along with Co-Founder Mr. Julis, received Institutional Investor’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Friedman is a member of the board of directors of Harvard Management Company. He is also a member of Harvard’s Committee on University Resources; the Harvard Law School Leadership Council; the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors; and Harvard University Task Force on Science and Engineering. Mr. Friedman also serves as a Trustee for the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the UCLA Hospital Department of Neurosurgery, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Mr. Friedman serves on the Investment Committee for the Broad Foundation and chairs the Caltech and LACMA Investment Committees.
Mr. Friedman and his wife Beth live in Los Angeles and have three sons.
Victor D. Kohn is an equity portfolio manager at Capital Group. He is president of Capital International, Inc. He has 33 years of investment experience and has been with Capital Group for 32 years. Earlier in his career, as an equity investment analyst at Capital, Victor covered Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. Prior to joining Capital, Victor was an analyst in the venture capital group at Montgomery Securities. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and both master’s and bachelor’s equivalent degrees summa cum laude in industrial engineering from the Universidad de Chile. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. Victor is based in Los Angeles.
Dr. David Zervos, PhD, serves as Jefferies LLC’s Chief Market Strategist and had been its Managing Director and Head of Global Fixed Income Strategy since February 2010. Mr Zervos serves as the Chief Investment Officer of Global Macro Division at Leucadia Asset Management, LLC. He served at Federal Reserve Board as a Visiting Advisor in the Division of Monetary Affairs for most of 2000. Dr. Zervos was a Staff Economist at The Federal Reserve System. He served for five years as a Portfolio Manager of Brevan Howard Asset Management LLP and UBS O'Connor Limited, where he specialized in global macro investment strategies. Dr. Zervos directed mortgage and derivative strategy at Greenwich Capital Markets and also worked in international fixed income strategy at Swiss Bank Corporation. He served as an Investment Adviser at The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc, National Westminster Bank Plc, and Greenwich NatWest Limited. Dr. Zervos has a Ph.D. and a MS in Economics from the University of Rochester.
