Sandra Roberts is the Holocaust Education Lead Teacher and Founding Teacher of the Children’s Holocaust Memorial in Whitwell, Tennessee.

Ms. Roberts was instrumental in spearheading the Paper Clips Project, which resulted in the creation of a monument to Holocaust victims in Whitwell that received worldwide acclaim. As an educator, Ms. Roberts views her primary role as one of molding her students into powerful and empathetic leaders. To accomplish that, she teaches her students about the mistakes that were made in the past. She views the Paper Clips Project as the best project she has been associated with in her teaching career, since it strives to teach tolerance, acceptance, and understanding to children at such a formative stage in their lives.

Taylor McDaniel Kilgore was a 10-year-old student at Whitwell Middle School the day a German railcar arrived at the Children’s Holocaust Memorial. The impact of that experience set her on a life path to become a teacher and fulfill her dream of carrying on the legacy of Holocaust education to the next generation of students.

Mrs. Kilgore attended Cumberland University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography. She moved on from there to Gratz College, where she received a Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. As a teacher at Whitwell Middle School, she prides herself on instilling a love of history in her students and making them aware that they are responsible for ensuring the atrocities of generations past never happen in their world.
