Project Angel Food

Address: 922 Vine Street (between Willoughby and Barton), Los Angeles 90038
Time: 8:00 AM-12:30 PM
Parking: Free parking is available behind the building, and there is available street parking.

Help us cook nutritious meals to be delivered to homes throughout Los Angeles County to alleviate hunger and nurse clients back to health.

Note: Please arrive promptly at 8:00 AM for orientation — our program will not begin until all volunteers are present.

Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear closed-toe, rubber-soled, flat shoes (no sandals), and comfortable clothes (no cutoffs, exposed midriffs, cap sleeves, or tank tops, please). New Health Department regulations prohibit all jewelry on hands, fingers, and arms. Please leave all valuable jewelry at home. No earrings that dangle longer than 2” are permitted. If you are sick, please stay home — many of the clients served are immunocompromised.

Other notes: If you would like to make an additional donation, Project Angel Food provides their clients with a very special birthday bag each year. These bags really brighten their clients’ spirits and are often the only remembrance of their special day. Some of the items that may be included are candles, t-shirts, coffee, tea, mugs, soaps, lotions, books, candy, picture frames, CDs, DVDs, pens, notepads, toiletries and any seasonal items.

 

OurSpaceLA

Address: Valley Beth Shalom — 15739 Ventura Blvd., Encino 91436
Time: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Parking: Available in the lot across the street off Densmore Avenue.

Volunteers ages 22-40, join us at Valley Beth Shalom as we partner with OurSpaceLA to provide Jewish experiences — educational, recreational, social, music, and arts programs — for children with special needs and unique abilities.

Restrictions: Volunteers must be ages 22-40.

 

SOVA

Address: 6605 Odessa Avenue, Van Nuys 91406 (Please note that this is NOT the Van Nuys pantry located a couple of blocks away.)
Time: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Parking: Available in the lot in the back and on the surrounding streets.

Meet us at the SOVA Warehouse to help sort and categorize food donations to distribute to people in need.

Restrictions: Please wear closed-toe shoes. Volunteers must be 10 years or older with and adult.

 

Shalom Institute

Address: Shalom Institute — 34342 Mulholland Hwy., Malibu 90265 (Special directions will be provided with registration confirmation)
Time: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Parking: Available on site.

Join us for a day of outdoor projects that will help the Institute recover following the destruction caused by the Woolsey Fire.

Restrictions: Volunteers must be aged 18+. Please wear closed-toe shoes, and make sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water.

Donations: Please consider bringing any of the following items for donation: gloves, shovels, or rakes — or support the Shalom Institute Wildfire Relief Fund with a gift.
